Sean is an American College of Sport Medicine (ACSM) certified personal trainer, a USA Weightlifting certified club coach, a Crossfit Level 1 certified trainer, and is American Red Cross CPR certified.
Prior to opening Cap City Strength, Sean was a trainer at local Crossfit gym. Sean coached and programmed for the “On-Ramp/Introductory” classes for those new to Crossfit, the general Crossfit classes, and the gym’s competitive Crossfit athletes. While coaching Crossfit, Sean competed in the 2010 Crossfit NorCal Sectionals as an individual, and the 2011 and 2012 Crossfit NorCal Regionals as a member of his gym’s team. It was during his time as a competitive Crossfit athlete that Sean developed his passion for Olympic Weightlifting. While Sean enjoyed coaching at a Crossfit gym, he wanted to open a gym that provided people with the opportunity to focus their training on more than one weightlifting sport, like powerlifting and Olympic weightlifting.
As Cap City Strength’s head coach, Sean designs the programs for the General Strength and Conditioning athletes, Advanced Strength and Conditioning athletes, and the entire Cap City Barbell Club. Sean coaches Cap City Strength’s regularly scheduled morning classes.
Sean has qualified for the 2015 USAW American Open and three Cap City Barbell Club athletes competed in the 2015 USAW National University Championships.
